Here Sinatra Jr is pictured with father, Frank Sinatra Sr. for the cover of LIFE magazine, 1965 |
We lost a great entertainer yesterday. Someone who had to
walk in his father’s footsteps all his life and I’m sure it couldn’t have been
the easiest thing to do but we commend him for gracing us all these years with
his musical talent.
Francis Wayne “Frank” Sinatra was born on January 10th,
1944 in Jersey City, NJ. He was the second of the Sinatra children to come into
the world and unfortunately it was at a time when his famous father was at his
busiest. In his early teenage years he was performing at various clubs and
concert venues and at the age of 19 he joined Sam Donahue’s band becoming the
lead vocalist. It was during this time his knowledge of the industry really
grew. Just like his dad, he was always on the road. Throughout the 60’s he appeared
in various shows and movies like The
Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour with celebrity sister, Nancy Sinatra, he
hosted a ten week summer replacement show for The Dean Martin Show & he appeared in the Sammy Davis Jr. drama
A Man Called Adam. Throughout the
years he’s made appearances here and there but it seemed that there was always
this Sinatra cloud looming over his head. No doubt the thought of his father
never left his mind over the years and now they can finally see each other once
again.
Frank Jr, died on March 16th, 2016 in Daytona Fl after going into cardiac arrest. He leaves behind his mother, Nancy Barbato who will soon turn 99, two sisters Tina and Nancy Sinatra, and a son from a previous marriage. He's also survived by all his adoring fans he's made over the years and we thank him for being a musical star, keeping his fathers legacy alive and reminding us of a simpler time every time he hit the stage. We keep you in our hearts Frank Sinatra, Jr. Rest in Peace -
